  • How does Reiki work?
Reiki is administered either in-person or at a distance by a trained practitioner by gently laying the hands on or over various parts of the client's body. While the client is lying down, the practitioner will use their hands to channel Reiki into and around the body using several hand positions. At times, the practitioner will use their intuition to guide them to where the client may need healing the most. If a client is not comfortable with being touched, they can let the practitioner know in advance and the session will take place without physical contact. The practitioner will instead hover their hands over the body. This in no way affects the flow of Reiki, and the session will still be just as effective. As Reiki travels through the hands of the practitioner, it will work to restore balance and promote healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Sometimes, it needs to be focused in one particular area to remove blockages at the surface before working at deeper levels. This often means that multiple treatments are required to achieve the full benefits that Reiki has to offer. However, most people see impactful changes and shifts after just one session.

  • What does Reiki feel like?
Each person's experience during a Reiki session is unique to them. Some of the mostly commonly reported experiences are: tingling or buzzing sensations, warm or cool sensations, visuals of bright colors or flashes of light, deep relaxation, and pulsing sensations. It is also common for people to fall asleep during sessions. Some people don't experience any sensations at all - and that's okay, too! Reiki is still working and healing. People who attend a Reiki session often leave feeling deeply relaxed, calm, and present. This feeling oftentimes continues over the course of a few days to a few weeks. Whatever your experience looks or feels like - honor it - and trust that it is right for you!
  • Is Distance Reiki effective?
Yes. Reiki offered at a distance is just as powerful and effective as the Reiki offered during in-person treatments. The only difference is how the Reiki is administered. When giving distance sessions, a practitioner can use various techniques for sending Reiki which might include visualization, using objects (such as crystals or stuffed animals) to represent a client, or the use of the Distance Healing Symbol. Reiki will always flow to the client, as long as the intention is there for it to do so. In reality, there is no distance in distance Reiki. Reiki works with intention, and when a practitioner intends to send healing to a client, it will flow to the client whether they are two feet apart or two thousand miles apart. It works the same, regardless of distance.
  • Can Reiki cure illness/disease?
Reiki works wonderfully to assist in healing the mind, body, and spirit - and is not used or intended to cure any illness or disease. When Reiki is used alongside proper medical care and treatment, it can be a powerful tool for helping patients feel more at ease with their conditions, as well as complementing the overall healing process. Reiki helps to bring the body and mind to a higher vibration, which allows the body to better support the natural healing process. Through this process, patients may experience a reduction in pain, feelings of positivity toward life, and decreased stress around their conditions. Because of the benefits Reiki has to offer, numerous hospitals are currently offering Reiki treatment to patients across the United States. Additionally, Medical Reiki is becoming increasingly common, as more practitioners undergo Medical Reiki Master Training and begin work in medical facilities. • Who can practice Reiki?
Anyone can learn to use Reiki! In order to become a practitioner, you must be trained and "attuned" to the energy by a Reiki Master. Attunement is necessary for opening up your energetic system, as well as your mind and body, to be able to use Reiki. Once you receive your first attunement, you can use Reiki for the rest of your life! Generally, there are three levels of Reiki training: First Degree Reiki (Shoden) Second Degree Reiki (Okuden) Reiki Master Level (Shinpiden) First Degree Reiki practitioners are traditionally trained to be able to use Reiki to treat themselves, and sometimes close friends and family. Second Degree Reiki practitioners receive the three Reiki symbols, and are trained to use Reiki to treat others and send distance Reiki. Reiki Masters are given the Master Symbol and are trained on how to teach Reiki to students and give attunements.
  • Is Reiki affiliated with a religion?
No. While Reiki is a spiritual practice in nature, it is not associated with any particular religion or faith-based organization. Reiki is open to everyone! It doesn't matter if you are religious or non-religious.
